The article discusses how the Serious Fraud Office’s (SFO) recent settlement with Eurasian Natural Resources Corp. (ENRC) avoids weeks of testimony and frees the SFO up to pursue its growing caseload.
Speaking to Law360 about the settlement, Osborne said: "Neither side appeared to have much to gain by going to trial. There is only downside for ENRC, with any bad facts being aired again, management being taken away from their day jobs, and costs. As for the SFO, there is precedent for them settling difficult cases especially when a new director comes in. It's good to wipe the slate clean and try to rebuild."
