Overview
Law360 quoted Zoe Osborne in a February 21 article titled, "Drop In SFO Dawn Raids No Reason For Concern, Attys Say."
The article covers new data that uncovered the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) conducted zero property raids from September 2020 to 2021, and explains why the drop in raids should not be a litmus test for the agency’s prowess.
Osborne explains that unlike the police or HM Revenue & Customs, the SFO's targets are companies with electronic data that is difficult to destroy, making physical raids a less critical tool for the agency. Osborne continues, "You might get one bad apple who agrees to spend the night with the shredder, but there will likely be other staff members – and a whistleblower hotline – which means that they are unlikely to get away with it."
