The article discusses the UK Serious Fraud Office's (SFO) decision to drop two of its biggest cases before Nick Ephgrave takes up the post as the new Director of the SFO at the end of September 2023.
Zoe Osborne who has represented defendants in SFO cases, said the moves should help reduce the noise around the SFO, so that "perhaps the SFO can now get on with its job."
"There'll certainly now be more free staff to open and investigate new cases, albeit morale must be low if you've been working on one of these cases for years and it's now been closed," Osborne said.
