Overview
(March 20, 2024, Washington, DC) – Steptoe has received two China Business Law Journal 2023 Deal of the Year Awards. The first award is for its work advising Tesla as part of the EU's investigation into China EVs and the second for representing Hytera in a trade secret theft via poaching dispute with Motorola. Each year, China Business Law Journal recognizes the best Chinese and international law firms in various practice area categories for the Chinese market, as well as the year's strongest deals.
Steptoe is representing Tesla in the EU's significant anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese Electric Vehicle (EV) imports. The investigation is a pivotal EU trade remedy case, surpassing the prior investigation on Chinese solar panel imports in terms of importance. The investigation on EVs was initiated by the European Commission on its own motion, without having received a complaint by the EU industry.
Steptoe is representing Hytera in its multi-year litigation with Motorola, which centers around Motorola's claims that numerous Motorola engineers moved to Hytera, taking thousands of documents and all of the source code related to Motorola’s DMR technology.
