(May 9, 2025, Los Angeles) – Steptoe is honored to announce that the firm has been selected by the ACLU Foundation of Southern California to receive the Advocates for Justice Award 2025. The Advocates for Justice Award highlights outstanding contributions by law firms and attorneys who have partnered with the ACLU SoCal.
Steptoe was recognized for its work as co-counsel in Mark S. v. California, a civil rights case addressing discriminatory disciplinary practices and advocating for supportive learning environments for students. The case, brought against Pittsburg Unified School District and the California Department of Education, resulted in a far-reaching settlement agreement that holds institutions accountable and affirms the rights of students with disabilities.
