Overview
Emma Staats focuses her practice on complex cross-border disputes, advising companies, governments, and individuals on issues arising around the globe. Her experience includes international arbitration (investor-state and commercial) and litigation, as well as matters involving public international law, business and human rights, and judgment enforcement and asset recovery. Emma has assisted clients on a range of compliance issues, including related to anti-corruption, OFAC, and crypto/FinTech. She also has particular experience in matters involving human trafficking, providing legislative advice to improve protections of human trafficking victim-survivors, as well as issues regarding discrimination in housing and education, and ancient artifacts.
Emma served as an intern for the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Kansas where she worked on a variety of criminal cases. Emma also had the honor of externing for Judge Stephen D. Hill on the Kansas Court of Appeals.
