Overview
Amanda Powell works with corporations, political committees, trade associations, and nonprofit organizations to ensure compliance with federal and state lobbying registration and reporting requirements, campaign finance laws, ethics obligations, and gift restrictions. She has significant experience in Executive Branch nominations and ethics filings.
With more than a decade of experience in this area, Amanda assists both organizations and individuals with the filing of federal and state lobbying reports to ensure their disclosures are filed accurately, on time, and in compliance with the various jurisdictional requirements. Clients benefit from her mastery of the Lobbying Disclosure Act’s registration, quarterly disclosure, and semiannual reporting processes, as well as a strong understanding of associated state-level registration and reporting obligations. To ensure compliance, she guides clients in their development of compliance programs, performs internal compliance audits, and is responsible for preparing and filing the necessary state and federal reports.
Amanda also aids clients with the formation, operation, and management of federal political action committees, including associated disclosure and reporting obligations. She also assists clients in tracking contribution limits and responding to disclosure inquiries.
Before joining Steptoe, Amanda worked at a DC-based law firm, where she assisted government relations professionals, monitored disclosure filings under the Lobbying Disclosure Act and Foreign Agents Registration Act, and transitioned the firm through various technological changes associated with lobbying disclosure filing procedures.
