Overview
Steptoe partners Michael Miller and Sandra Hanna, and associates Myles Ashong and Evelyn Hudson, authored an article entitled, "A Tale of Two Systems: Comparing New York State and Federal Approaches to White-Collar Crime," which appeared in the New York Law Journal.
This article is the third in a series of three Steptoe articles in the NYLJ looking at the tools available to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office and the New York State Attorney General's Office to fight white-collar crime if the federal government shifts its criminal and regulatory enforcement priorities. This article compares important technical aspects of New York State and federal criminal law, including the scope of each system’s jurisdiction, rules relating to grand jury procedures, tools to conduct investigations and arrest targets across the country, statutes of limitations, and sentencing frameworks. We hope you find this article interesting.
