Overview
Myles Ashong represents corporate and individual clients in internal and government-facing investigations and white-collar defense matters.
Prior to joining Steptoe, Myles served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, where he was responsible for investigating and prosecuting a wide variety of matters ranging from violent crimes and firearms offenses to cybercrimes, hate crimes, and complex financial frauds. During his time as a prosecutor, he conducted several jury trials, attaining verdicts in each of them, and secured numerous criminal dispositions involving fines, asset forfeitures, and restitution.
Myles has extensive experience leading pre-arrest and grand jury investigations, including collecting documents and developing facts through subpoenas and search warrants, among other investigative techniques. He has prevailed in arguing motions and conducting evidentiary hearings and is adept in handling plea negotiations, proffers, and sensitive witness interviews. With firsthand knowledge of how prosecutors think, Myles leverages his experience to help clients targeted by government agencies avoid and mitigate legal and reputational risks and achieve positive outcomes.
While in law school, Myles worked as a legal intern in the World Bank Group’s Office of Suspension and Debarment, served as a law clerk to the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Maryland, and served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Judge Andrew L. Carter, Jr. on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
