In January 2024, Steptoe joined forces with SKV to open our new Houston office. Comprised of a team of top trial and business litigation lawyers, the Houston office handles bet-the-company cases on behalf of Fortune 100 and other large businesses in state and federal courts inside and outside of Texas. These litigators have extensive experience in all aspects of trial practice, including litigation, civil jury and bench trials, arbitrations, and appeals.

The Houston office works with clients across industries, including energy (with a focus on oil and gas), health care, financial services, insurance, transportation, and others.

The office’s white-collar defense lawyers have experience in criminal trials and appeals, parallel civil and administrative proceedings, internal investigations, and government investigations of companies and individuals. They have secured dismissals or acquittals in high-profile cases alleging insider trading, commodities manipulation, environmental violations, and public corruption. And they have represented executives and whistleblowers in litigation and arbitration.

Members of the office have been involved in some of the largest intellectual property litigation matters in Texas history.

Other key areas of focus for the Houston office include class actions and multiparty litigation, qui tam cases, securities litigation, and trustee-related bankruptcy actions.

Nearly all of the office’s lawyers have completed clerkships with federal or Texas supreme court judges, and two of the office’s lawyers are former federal prosecutors.
