Overview
(December 5, 2022 Washington, DC) — Steptoe & Johnson LLP has appointed two new managing partners for its offices in Brussels and California. Robyn Crowther has been named as the firm’s first Regional Managing Partner for California and Renato Antonini has been appointed the next managing partner of Steptoe’s Brussels office, effective December 5, 2022.
Gwen Renigar, the firm's Chair commented: "We are delighted that Robyn and Renato have agreed to serve the firm in these new roles. They both are well suited to represent firm management, continue to extend the firm’s reach, and serve our clients."
Robyn was previously managing partner of Steptoe's Los Angeles office, a role she has had since 2019 and which she has used to grow the talent and clients in Los Angeles. She currently serves as a member of Steptoe's Executive Committee and its Lateral Committee. Robyn is a partner in the firm's Commercial Litigation group and has been recognized repeatedly by the California Daily Journal as one of the Top 100 Lawyers and Top Women Lawyers.
Commenting on the appointment, Robyn said: "My practice includes active matters in San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles and San Francisco, and the strategic decision to think about California on a state-wide basis rather than city-by-city is consistent with my 25 years of practice here. I’m glad for the opportunity to lead this effort and to take on an additional leadership role."
Renato joined the firm in October 2021 from Jones Day, and is currently leading the firm’s International Trade & Regulatory Compliance practice in Europe. With over 20 years' experience representing clients on global trade legal and regulatory issues, in particular advising on EU trade matters, as well as on customs and sanctions, Renato is well placed to build on the existing Brussels office growth strategy. He will be taking over from Ruxandra Cana.
Commenting on the appointment Renato said: "I am honored to be trusted to lead the Brussels office, building on Ruxandra’s great achievements. I am committed to deliver on the office’s growth by increasing its size and developing the next generation of talents, as well as building on the firm's culture of collaboration to enhance our clients' success, across practices, jurisdictions and client service teams." Ruxandra added: "I am proud of what we have accomplished in Brussels and thrilled to have Renato take the reins. I look forward to continuing to work with him as we grow the ESG, chemical regulatory, and life sciences practices in Europe."
