He has extensive experience across diverse environments as well as a broad understanding of cross-border issues, as he has played a pivotal role in many high profile international cases.
His experience includes managing complex international arbitrations and litigations arising from corporate transactions connected to Russia and the CIS. Ivan utilises his strong technical, negotiation and communication skills to support clients with regards to fraud charges, wealth disputes, defamation and negligence claims as well as contentious takeovers.

Representing the creditors of a Russian bank in a multimillion US dollar fraud/debt recovery action against the former owner and a president of the bank.

Acted for a second world largest producer of chemical fertilisers in a US dollar 1.5 bn asset acquisition.

Represented an international bank in a US$50m debt recovery action covering several jurisdictions: UK, Spain, Austria, China.

Advising a client about an economic tort claim exceeding US$ 250m against an international investment fund.

Acted for a large Irish bank in a £15 million professional negligence claim against a major international firm of chartered surveyors.

Leading the negotiations while acting for a buyer in the highly contentious takeover of a large chemical production facility worth more than $1.4 billion.

Acting for a shareholder of a £100 million UK telecommunications company about an "unfair prejudice" application arising from a shareholder dispute.

Acted for a client in the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) matter arising out of "economic divorce" between two ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) individuals from Eastern Europe. The amount in dispute exceeded £300 million.

Acting for Aeroflot in PJSC Aeroflot v. Berezovsky & Forus Group Companies, the £100 million fraud case was brought by Aeroflot against Boris Berezovsky and six other defendants. This engagement required a challenge of jurisdiction and encompassed numerous countries, including Russia, UK, Switzerland, France and Cyprus.

Acting for the Government of the Samara Region of the Russian Federation in Government of the Samara Region v. Berezovsky, which involves enforcement of a £20 million Russian judgment in England.

Defended Aeroflot in PJSC Aeroflot v. Berezovsky. The case involved a dispute as to the control of the estate of the late Boris Berezovsky, and involved complex and heavily contested applications as to privacy and confidentiality, and related European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) issues, concerning information belonging to a third party.

Handled appeal in Terluk v. Berezovsky eg, in defamation action against refusal to grant adjournment and loss of right to jury trial.

Advised on Mutual Assistance applications in an ECHR claim against the UK for a CIS client.
