Overview
Joseph McClure is a member of the Commercial Litigation group, where his practice involves all stages of complex litigation. Joe has experience in a broad array of cases, including those involving data privacy, trade secrets, national security, government contracts, insolvency, and fine art insurance.
Joe is particularly knowledgeable about accounting and financial issues and is often called upon to assist teams present financial condition evidence, whether at evidentiary hearings, expert reports, or in briefing. Joe's experience includes a major fraudulent transfer case in which he worked closely with financial experts to investigate accounting practices, value transferred assets, calculate damages, and present those findings both at trial and in post-trial proceedings.

Representative Matters
- Representing operator of crude-by-rail transloading facility pursuing fraudulent transfer claims arising from breach of a take-or-pay contract and, after a four-week trial, secured judgment for the client in excess of $170 million. Joe and the rest of the Steptoe trial team were recognized by AmLaw's Litigation Daily as "Litigator of the Week Runners-Up" for their victory.

- Representing defense contractor against tort suits arising out of Abu Ghraib prison scandal.
- Representing horizontal developer and its affiliates in litigation over property rights related to the construction of data centers.
- Representing major accounting firm in SEC/DOJ investigation of a foreign manufacturer.
- Defended educational technology company in proposed class action alleging that use of the Meta pixel web tracking technology caused violations of the Video Privacy Protection Act.
