Overview
Partner Coy Garrison was quoted by both Bloomberg and The Block in articles discussing the start of trading of Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and shifts in the regulatory landscape for cryptocurrency.
During his discussion with Bloomberg, Garrison said that the approval of Bitcoin ETFs doesn’t necessarily mean that the SEC will allow products tracking other cryptocurrencies, “I really believe that the agency’s going to be reluctant to expand its analysis beyond Bitcoin.”
Speaking to The Block about the SEC’s stance on cryptocurrency, Garrison said: “The judiciary serves a vital role in reminding the SEC that it must operate within the bounds of its statutory authority. The SEC’s stance on crypto under Chair Gensler will likely only change when and if required to do so by a court.”
