Samuel Bloebaum is a due diligence analyst in Steptoe's International Trade & Regulatory Compliance Group. He is an experienced researcher and investigator, with a focus on AML/CFT compliance, political risk assessment, and source of wealth tracing in English-, Spanish-, and Arabic-language jurisdictions worldwide. Sam has several years of experience scoping and conducting hundreds of due diligence investigations on a wide variety of high- and low-profile subjects, including ultra-high-net-worth individuals, companies active in risky jurisdictions, and country-specific economic sectors.
Sam deploys a deep experiential knowledge of public record research and open-source intelligence methods, supplying clients with obscure or intentionally hidden information not available through basic research. He also has professional experience tracking and producing daily updates and longform strategic analyses on East African armed conflicts and transatlantic relations and provides support to the team’s geopolitical analytical products. Sam has an academic background in international economic affairs and Middle Eastern politics, providing clients with valuable insights into how geopolitical trends pose new risks and opportunities for the clients' interests.
