Overview
Ian Cameron is a risk analyst and researcher, with a focus on US foreign policy, international security, and European and Russian geopolitics. Ian provides forward-looking analysis on domestic and geopolitical developments for international clients, providing assessments and key takeaways to guide strategic decisions and stakeholder engagement plans. Ian also supports due diligence investigations and research in support of litigation.
Prior to Steptoe, Ian worked at institutions including NATO Allied Command Transformation, the Atlantic Council, the US Department of State, and the American Foreign Policy Council, where he contributed to projects on European and Russian politics, trade and economic developments, and international security issues. He has provided research and analysis on issues including sanctions, defense technology, energy security, developments in modern warfare, and geopolitical competition. His analyses have been published with the Atlantic Council, 19FortyFive, and New York University’s Jordan Center for the Advanced Study of Russia.
Ian holds an MA in European and Eurasian Studies with a concentration in International Security Policy from George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs, where he was a Wolcott Fellow. He lived and studied in Germany for several years, and he has also studied Russian language in Central Asia. Ian speaks and researches in German and Russian.
