Overview
Michelle Castaline assists clients in a variety of federal regulatory matters related to the electric utility, oil, and natural gas industries, including enforcement, litigation, and compliance matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). She also assists electric utilities before FERC in proceedings related to transmission and interconnection issues.
Prior to transitioning to private practice, Michelle spent two years at FERC as an attorney advisor in the Office of Administrative Law Judges and is well-versed in issues related to Sections 205 and 206 of the Federal Power Act and rate cases involving Sections 4 and 5 of the Natural Gas Act.
During law school, Michelle was a summer associate at a boutique energy firm where she worked on issues related to utility rates, community choice aggregation and cooperatives. She also worked as an intern at the Environmental Law Institute, where she focused on the Clean Air Act and Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act regarding environmental justice concerns. Michelle served as an Article Editor for The George Washington Journal of Energy and Environmental Law and her Note Clearing the Air; Dis-incentivizing Driving and Encouraging Use of Public Transportation to Combat Vehicle Pollution was published in the University of California Hastings Environmental Law Journal.
