The firm's DC office was opened in 1945 as an offshoot of a West Virginia law firm and over the years has earned a national and international reputation for vigorous representation before government agencies, successful advocacy in litigation and arbitrations, and creative and practical advice in guiding business transactions.

The office includes a number of former high-level government officials who substantially contribute to a tradition of strong regulatory, transactional, and litigation counsel.
