Overview
Cannon Jurrens litigates complex commercial disputes in federal and state courts, as well as in arbitral forums. Her practice is broad and she has litigated a wide range of subject matters, including disputes arising from the opioid crisis, consumer fraud and Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) violations, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract, and intellectual property disputes involving copyright and trademark claims.
Cannon has experience in all phases of dispute resolution – from pre-filing strategy through trial and appeal – but she recognizes that litigation is not always the most effective path to resolution. She is committed to developing efficient, creative strategies that align with her clients' goals, and has worked on teams that have achieved favorable outcomes through pre-litigation negotiations, including a nationwide settlement with State Attorneys General involving claims arising from the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, public nuisance, and civil conspiracy. When litigation is necessary, Cannon has successfully secured dismissals at the pleading stage, prevailed on summary judgment, and obtained favorable verdicts before federal juries.
Cannon is actively engaged in Steptoe's pro bono program, where she has represented clients in federal court in matters involving constitutional violations under 28 U.S.C. § 1983 and habeas corpus. She has tried cases before federal juries and secured favorable verdicts on behalf of her pro bono clients.
During law school, Cannon served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Patricia A. Millett of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
