(August 20, 2020, Washington, DC) — Steptoe has received 97 individual mentions in the 2021 edition of The Best Lawyers in America© and 28 individual mentions in the inaugural Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch. In addition, four Steptoe partners have been named "Lawyer of the Year."
Best Lawyers is based on a peer-review survey in which nearly 94,000 lawyers globally are eligible to vote on the legal abilities of other lawyers based on their specific practice areas around the world. For the 2021 edition of the US guide, some 9.4 million votes were cast. The Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch list recognizes lawyers who have been in private practice for less than 10 years in the United States. Selection to this list is also based entirely on peer review.
Only one lawyer in each practice area and designated metropolitan area is recognized as the "Lawyer of the Year." The lawyers being named as "Lawyers of the Year" have received particularly high ratings in this year's survey by earning a high level of respect among their peers for their abilities, professionalism, and integrity.
