Evan T. Abrams is an associate in Steptoe's Washington office, where he is a member of the International Regulation & Compliance Group.  His practice focuses on CFIUS foreign investment reviews, foreign anti-corruption (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) investigations, export controls, anti-money laundering, and economic sanctions issues.

Before joining Steptoe, he co-founded a political risk news and analysis company providing insight on political events shaping business, economic, and investment climates around the world.

While in law school, Mr. Abrams served as law clerk to the chairman of the US Senate Judiciary Committee.  Before attending law school, he worked as a business strategy consultant helping companies streamline and grow their online operations.  He held internships at the US Department of Commerce, where he guided US companies conducting business in Iraq and Afghanistan, and at the Washington office of two US Senators, where he focused on issues related to the economy, foreign affairs, and the federal judiciary.
