Overview
The Washington Post quoted Stewart Baker in a February 11 article titled "Trump Gave the Military Freer Rein for Offensive Hacking. Security Experts Say That’s a Good Idea." The article features comments from more than 100 leaders from government, academia and the private sector on whether it is a good idea that the Trump administration made it easier for the military to conduct offensive cyber operations against US adversaries.
Baker, former DHS assistant secretary for policy and former general counsel for the National Security Agency, says, "The United States has been too timid and too lawyered-up to develop the kind of offensive capabilities we will need in cyberspace."
