The panel of white collar crime lawyers, including a prosecutor, former prosecutors, and defense attorneys, will discuss the impact of the case on other fraud prosecutions, and the many questions left unanswered after the Bridgegate decision. During the webinar, we will discuss why the Supreme Court held that the defendants in the case did not violate federal wire fraud statutes and how the Court's decision has cast doubt over a number of federal fraud cases.
Topics for discussion include:
- The legal landscape leading to and after Bridgegate
- How the case has been used by defense attorneys, including in cases such as the Varsity Blues college admission cases, to defend against wire fraud charges
- Updates on other significant appellate developments
Speakers:
- L. Ashley Aull, Chief, Appellate Section, United States Attorney's Office, Central District of California
- Koren Bell, Partner, Larson LLP
- Ashwin J. Ram, Partner, Steptoe & Johnson LLP
- Moderator Vicki Chou, Partner, Hueston Hennigan LLP
